Celtic have been very open to bringing back former players in recent times. Jota completed a return to Parkhead just 18 months after leaving the club, following failed stints at Al-Ittihad and Rennes. Kieran Tierney will also be returning to Glasgow in the summer, when his contract with Arsenal runs out. The left-back has already put pen to paper on a pre-contract agreement with the Hoops.

Celtic have been linked with quite a few other former players lately as well. Names like Kristoffer Ajer of Brentford and Odsonne Edouard of Crystal Palace are on that list.

Now, another name has been added to it. In their list suggesting free agent targets for Celtic and Rangers, Glasgow World put forward Jason Denayer as an option.

Denayer is a free agent right now. He left Al Fateh by mutual agreement earlier this year. Before leaving, he was playing regular football for the club though and at 29 years of age, he could be a smart addition for the Hoops.

Denayer spent a season on loan at Celtic from Manchester City, early on in his career. It was a brief spell but a successful one for the Belgian defender.

He ended up establishing himself in the Celtic team and won the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year. Ultimately, he did not return for another loan spell in Glasgow but has had a successful career so far, making 35 appearances for Belgium while also playing for teams like Galatasaray and Lyon.

Someone like Denayer could prove to be a decent addition to this Celtic team. There are question marks around Auston Trusty and Liam Scales could be on his way out in the summer, having struggled for game time. There is some uncertainty around the future of Cameron Carter-Vickers as well.
