The good news has continuously rolled in for Celtic in recent weeks. This weekend, they finally built up a gap at the top of the Premiership table. While Aberdeen finally dropped points and lost, the Hoops took advantage and now have a three-point lead over the Dons. Also, the Rangers drew, which leaves them eleven behind their Glasgow rivals. It is still November.
Of course, there was further good news for Celtic in recent days. One of them was the announcement that James Forrest has extended his contract for another year and will remain at Parkhead until the summer of 2026 at least.
Forrest has never played for any other club in his career, not even going out on loan, having come through the Celtic youth ranks. Hopefully, that remains the case and we get to see him retire one day while at Parkhead.
Athletic Bilbao sent a special message to the Celtic legend after the news of his contract extension emerged. They tweeted out:
Athletic Bilbao send classy message to Celtic player
There is every chance in the world that Forrest could finish his career as a one-club man. For a few years, it had looked like his time at Parkhead was coming to an end as he was barely getting any playing time and also dealing with regular fitness issues.
Fortunately, it looks like he has put those behind him. And while Forrest might no longer be a starter, Brendan Rodgers is consistently giving him playing time off the bench.
There is a good possibility that Forrest will also become the most-decorated player in Celtic history soon. He is in the second spot right now, just one trophy behind. And considering how this campaign is going for the Hoops at the moment, it will be a surprise if they do not finish it with at least a couple of trophies, if not a treble.
