Kieran Tierney has been linked with a return to Celtic for years now. And considering his situation at Arsenal, this might be the perfect time to make that happen. The left-back is completely out of Mikel Arteta's plans. He spent last season out on loan at Real Sociedad and was expected to leave in the summer but an injury suffered at the EUROs made that impossible.

Now, as we head towards the January transfer window, Tierney's future has emerged as a topic of discussion once again. Unsurprisingly, the Celtic links are back doing the rounds.

Tierney enjoyed a lot of success working with Brendan Rodgers during his previous stint at Celtic. The two recently attended a charity event together as well. So, is a reunion at Parkhead on the cards?

It looks like Arsenal will be looking to part ways with Tierney in January. As reported by Football Insider, Mick Brown, a former scout who spent over a decade at Manchester United, said:

"There are three players at the club they’d be looking to sell.

“And that’s Gabriel Jesus, Zinchenko, and Kieran Tierney. They’re not in the manager’s plans."

Arsenal's start to this season has not been particularly impressive. Many had viewed this as the season when they finally took that last step and ended Manchester City's rule in the Premier League.

Instead, Arsenal have fallen significantly behind Liverpool in the title race already. So, they might be looking to freshen things up a bit in the winter. But in order to do that, they might have to raise funds first by parting ways with a few players who are not contributing much to the team. Tierney's name would fall under that category for sure.

There have been rumours in the recent past that Arsenal could be ready to say goodbye to Tierney for a £10 million transfer fee. That is a figure very much within Celtic's reach. But should they be making that sort of commitment to signing a player with the left-back's injury record?
