It looks like Wilfried Nancy won't make it at Celtic. And it is not just about the results and performances, both of which have been awful, to be fair. It goes deeper than that. It looks like the Frenchman has no grasp of the job that he has taken on and what is expected of him. On the contrary, it looks like he might have the complete opposite idea. You wonder what the board saw before making the appointment. Or did they just decide to go with the easiest option available?

One could argue that the biggest strength for a Celtic manager is the fanbase behind him. Just look at the wonders it did for Ange Postecoglou, someone Nancy was compared to before his arrival.

Well, it has already become pretty clear that Nancy is nothing like Postecoglou. The Australian had the ability to make the fans believe in him. Even when things were not going well, the supporters were willing to look for the positives and wanted to see him succeed. The Frenchman is not doing that, and does not seem interested either.

He has been in the job for three games and it looks like he has lost pretty much the entire fanbase with his comments. The supporters were clearly unhappy with the manager's recent comments.

As one Celtic fan wrote regarding Nancy: "“I don’t need to prove anything to anybody” more arrogance, chief you need to show the supporters you’re capable, they’re paying your wages."

Another said: "He hasn't got a clue what it means to be a Celtic manager. If we lose to Dundee Utd he should be fired immediately and sent packing."

A third added: "I was optimistic about him at first, but he’s just getting so insufferable and arrogant. Really disappointing attitude."

It would be pretty safe to say that Nancy has read the room completely wrong here. And to be honest, he does definitely have a ton to prove.

Yes, he had his fair share of success managing in the MLS. But this is a completely different level. And so far, he has looked completely out of his depth.

If he really believes he has nothing to prove at Celtic, he might be completely overestimating his abilities as a manager. We hope we are wrong. But it does not feel like so.
