If you had not heard of Auchinleck Talbot until recently, you would not be the only one. They play West of Scotland League Premier Division and have 117 years of history behind them. Normally, you expect Celtic to cruise past them without a worry in the world. This has not been a regular campaign for the Hoops though. As a result, the fans are more nervous than usual, and understandbly so.
If Auchinleck Talbot manage to get the better of Celtic tonight, it might very well be the biggest upset in the history of football. We are not even joking about that. And yet, the Hoops fans did not sound completely convinced of victory when the line ups were announced.
The lack of quality depth in this squad was pretty evident from the lineup that Martin O'Neill put out. Callum McGregor could not even be rested on this day, which tells a story of its own.
The bigger worry for Celtic might be the defence though. There is not one player in the backline who has exactly convinced this season for the Hoops. Of course, Stephen Welsh was having a pretty good campaign out on loan before he was recalled.

Even against Auchinleck Talbot, quite a few Celtic fans sounded nervous going into the game, although some of it might be tongue-in-cheek. As one wrote: "Deary me - Ralston, Kenny, Balikwisha and Welsh. Are we trying to lose the game???"
It would take quite a lot from Celtic to lose this game, despite how bad things have been for them this season, that is for sure. That is a result, that almost seems unrealistic.
Nothing can ever be ruled out in football though. So, let's hope that the Bhoys put in a professional performance, get a few early goals, and put this game to bed as soon as possible.
