It looks like the goalless draw against Kairat Almaty and the reaction to the result, and the performance, have finally had an effect on Celtic. Let's be honest, the club have failed to strengthen their squad this summer and they will be underdogs going into the second leg away in Kazakhstan. Their hopes of making it to the Champions League suddenly look bleak and they have nobody else to blame but themselves for being in this position.

Well, at least, it looks like the result has led to some urgency at Parkhead about making signings. At least that is what the talk in the media seems to be.

There are a number of positions where Celtic still need to strengthen. It looks like they are working on making four signings before the end of the window and might have to look towards the right-back situation as well, depending on the extent of Alistair Johnston's injury.

As reported by Anthony Joseph, Celtic are in the market for two wingers, a striker and a left-back before the September 1 deadline. A number of enquiries have been made on top targets. They may also have to look into the market for a right-back, as they await scan results on Johnston's injury.

Well, we would like to say better late than never in this situation. But truth be told, it might be a bit too late to have any effect on how the Champions League qualification process will go.

One can only hope that the Hoops have enough in the tank to go to Kazakhstan and get a positive result. They will have to win to go through.

Of course, the players will need to rise to the occasion. But their away record in Europe will not fill the fans with confidence.
