Who will be the next Rangers manager? It feels like everybody has known that answer for a while. Steven Gerrard has been interviewed for the job, and there have been suggestions in the media that only the finer details remain before the move is officially agreed. But interestingly, another name has now emerged in that race, even though he might be trailing the Liverpool legend.

As it turns out, Gerrard's move back to Ibrox might not be set in stone. just yet. The club are seemingly keeping their options open and have other names on their radar as well.

As reported by Anthony Joseph, Rangers are holding further talks with Gerrard today and yesterday’s discussions were described as “constructive”. The club are speaking to a number of candidates, including Danny Rohl.

So, it looks like the Rangers' alternative to Gerrard is Rohl. His only role in management so far has been at Sheffield Wednesday, where he did a decent enough job considering the limitations he was working under. That being said, is the answer the Ibrox club are looking for after how things turned out with Russell Martin?

Rohl is not a name that will worry Celtic fans, that is for sure. Accompanied by laughing emojis, one wrote: "Danny Rohl it is then."

Well, anything can happen in football. Rohl could turn out to be a brilliant manager. But can he succeed at Ibrox at this point in his career? That does not feel like the case to be honest.

Of course, it is very likely that Gerrard is still the man that the Rangers will go forward with. But it is very interesting that Rohl's name has come up in the media even though it had looked like the Englishman was the only one they wanted.
