Celtic fans continue to wait for the club to pull off some more moves in the ongoing summer transfer window. They are keen to see some fresh faces brought in, and the squad strengthened, before their Champions League qualifiers. But unfortunately, with each passing day, that is starting to look more and more unlikely.
Perhaps this has always been the plan. To wait and find out the result of the Champions League qualifiers before making a push for the signings.
Of course, it is easy to point the finger at the club for not doing enough. That being said, it is also very possible that their targets want to make sure that Celtic are in the Champions League before making their decision on a move. They would not have had that issue in the previous three seasons, as qualification was secured as a result of winning the Scottish league. Not this time around though.
One of the players that Celtic had been linked with for months now is Lennon Miller. But those links had faded away in recent weeks. And now, he has ended up moving to Italy instead.
Anthony Joseph confirms transfer move that will interest Celtic fans
Miller is one of the brightest prospects in Scottish football. So, even though a move to Celtic is not happening, the fans will wish him luck and hope that he develops according to expectations. The Italian Serie A is a great place to do that.
As reported by Anthony Joseph, Udinese have signed Miller for £4.7m, plus add-ons. Motherwell have also inserted a sell-on clause in the move, with the fee setting a new record.
Well, that is the end of the Miller saga then. He won't be joining Celtic. Let's see how things go for him in Italy. One has to wonder if the fee was the stumbling block in a move or whether the midfielder was keen to move abroad.
