It remains to be seen how things will play out for Celtic in the remainder of the summer transfer window. They have already made some solid additions like Kieran Tierney and Benjamin Nygren, but at the same time, starting-calibre players have departed as well. The Hoops will need to bring in replacements.
The headline exit has been that of Nicolas Kuhn. The German winger, a key starter last season, has joined Como FC. With Jota set to spend the rest of the year out injured as well, it is safe to say that Brendan Rodgers' options on the wings have weakened significantly.
One player Celtic have been linked with heavily in recent times is Michel-Ange Balikwisha. The Belgian winger has been on their radar going back to last summer and is believed to be looking to leave in this window.
In fact, it appears that he might be keen on a move to Celtic, which might hand them an advantage in the race to sign him from Royal Antwerp. As reported by CeltsAreHere, Anthony Joseph said on (Off The Underside:
"From what I’ve heard, the indications are that Balikwisha would like to join Celtic. If Celtic can get a deal over the line with Royal Antwerp, then I think personal terms and sorting out a contract for Balikwisha will be quite easy work for them."
Anthony Joseph confirms £5m player wants to join Celtic
Let's see how things turn out for Balikwisha from here. It is believed that his club want an offer in the region of €5 million in order to part ways with the Belgian winger.
Of course, that is a figure that Celtic are capable of shelling out, if they want to. But at the same time, they have been linked with plenty of other wingers as well and could be eyeing different options in that area of the pitch.
One cannot overlook the fact that Balikwisha has been dealing with injury problems in recent times. And any club trying to sign him will have that in the back of their minds as well. So, a move might not be as straightforward as many might feel.
