Celtic have been very active in recent years when it comes to bringing back their former players. Jota returned in January from Rennes and has, unfortunately, following a bright start, he has picked up a long-term injury and will be out for the rest of the year. Other than that, Kieran Tierney and Ross Doohan were brought back as free agent this summer.
More former players appear to be on Celtic's radar as well. It was just recently that they were linked with a move for Odsonne Edouard, although that no longer seems to be on their table, considering Brendan Rodgers' recent comments.
On the other hand, as reported by Africafoot, Celtic are looking to sign Jeffrey Schlupp permanently. Other suitors are also in the running, including Hull City, Sheffield United, and West Bromwich Albion. The player is open to these different avenues.
Of course, Celtic would need to spend a significant transfer fee to bring back Edouard. That won't be the case with Schlupp, who is available as a free agent after his contract at Crystal Palace ran out.
Another player tipped for Celtic return after Odsonne Edouard
Schlupp spent the second half of last season on loan at Celtic, even though Crystal Palace knew he was in the final six months of his contract. As expected, he has not signed an extension and is now available as a free agent.
Schlupp made a brilliant start to life on loan at Celtic Park. He was one of the club's standout players against Bayern Munich away at the Allianz Arena, keeping the likes of Michael Olise and Leroy Sane quiet.
Schlupp's form did not last though and by the end of the campaign, he was a backup option to Greg Taylor. The latter has left this summer to join PAOK and the Hoops are in need of a backup to Tierney. The former Crystal Palace man might be a great fit for that spot.
