Another blow confirmed for Celtic in search of next manager

Celtic have been handed another blow as they look for a permanent replacement for Brendan Rodgers, following his resignation.

With every passing day, it becomes more and more likely that Celtic will stick with Martin O'Neill until the end of the current season. We always knew that finding a manager in the middle of the campaign was not going to be easy. And it looks like quite a few have either been ruled out, or put themselves out of the race already.

Ange Postecoglou is believed to be keen on spending some time away from the game after being sacked twice in quick succession. On the other hand, it appears that Mark van Bommel has already rejected an approach from the Hoops, if reports coming out are accurate.

That is not the end of it for Celtic either. Another manager is now out of that race despite recent links with the Scottish champions.

That is none other than former Celtic player, Craig Bellamy, who had a loan stint at Parkhead during his playing days. Right now, he is the manager of the Wales national team and he has publicly made it very clear that he is not interested in a move to Glasgow.

As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Bellamy openly addressed the links with Celtic, as he said:

"I can understand the links. I played there. But to me, I love what I’m doing at the present time.

“I’m completely focused on what’s set to come. That’s all I’m focused on. It’s cliched but I couldn’t want anything else. It isn’t on my radar and it won’t be on my radar."

That's that then. It should be the end of all the rumours linking Bellamy with a move to Celtic. He is not interested in leaving the Wales national team job at this moment. They still have a chance to qualify for the World Cup. So, his stance is understandable.

Celtic will have to look elsewhere, if they want to bring in a new manager. Not a lot of quality ones seem to be available readily though. And with how well O'Neill has done so far, handing him the job until the end of the campaign might be the sensible choice for now.
