Ange Postecoglou has unsurprisingly been linked with the Celtic job in the aftermath of Brendan Rodgers' resignation. The Australian spent two very successful seasons at Parkhead before heading down south. Despite arriving in Glasgow under difficult conditions, he quickly oversaw a rebuild and won five out of six domestic trophies available to him.

Celtic are in need of another rebuild at the moment. And one of Postecoglou's biggest strengths is being able to find quality players while working under a small transfer budget. That makes him perfect for the Parkhead job.

Unfortunately, it has been claimed that Postecoglou is seeking to spend some time away from football. He has been sacked twice within the span of a few months, first by Tottenham Hotspur despite winning them the Europa League and then by Nottingham Forest after just 39 days in charge.

For someone who has known little but success in management, that is expected to be a bitter pill to swallow. So, it is understandable that he might want to spend some time away to recharge his batteries. But clubs seem to be interested in hiring him, despite his high-profile failures. It is not just Celtic either. It looks like a move to the Serie A might be on the cards as well.

As reported by Football Italia, Genoa are reportedly considering Ange Postecoglou as their next permanent manager. Thiago Motta is also on their radar.

That report came out while Patrick Vieira was still the manager of Genoa. Since then, he has departed, leaving the role vacant.

Would Genoa be the right job for Postecoglou though? Yes, they are in the Italian top flight. But they are at the very bottom of Serie A right now.

Those do not seem like conditions where Postecoglou would thrive. He is a manager who likes to play free-flowing football. At Genoa, they need a much more pragmatic coach right now who will be able to squeeze out results.

On paper, Celtic look like a much better fit for Postecoglou at the moment. He is proven at Parkheas and has all the attributes to pick up right where he left off. But it is very possible that he might not want to head back to Scotland and instead try his luck in a top five European league once again. Let's see what the future holds in that regard.
