It is no secret that a large section of the Celtic fanbase would like to see Ange Postecoglou back in the Parkhead hot seat following Brendan Rodgers' unexpected resignation in the middle of the season after maintaining for years that he was intent on seeing out his three-year contract. The Australian is without a club at the moment, having been recently sacked by Nottingham Forest after just 39 days in charge.
Following that Nottingham Forest run, one would not imagine that Postecoglou will get a lot of offers from Premier League clubs. So, one would be hoping that a return to Celtic is an attractive proposition for him.
That being said, it does look like Celtic could have a tough time convincing Postecoglou to make a return at this point in time. That is because it looks like he wants a break.
As reported by The Scottish Sun, Postecoglou is set to take a break from football, ruling out any chance of a Celtic return. The Australian intends to take time out of the game following his terrible Nottingham Forest spell.
Ange Postecoglou makes decision on blockbuster Celtic return
Of course, it would be wrong to completely rule out the idea of it just yet. The media can get things wrong. And even if Postecoglou intends to take a break, that does not mean that Celtic could convince him to change his mind.
Martin O'Neill made a brilliant return to the Celtic hot seat last night, guiding them to a 4-0 win against Falkirk. That might give the club some space to allow Postecoglou to have a couple months away from the game and recharge his batteries.
Of course, he is not the only one they have been linked with lately. The likes of Kieran McKenna, Nicky Hayen and Robbie Keane are targets as well.
