It came as no surprise when Ange Postecoglou was linked with the Celtic job, immediately after Brendan Rodgers resigned from the post. It is easy to see why that was the case. The Australian was immensely successful, and perhaps even more importantly, popular, during his time at Parkhead. And at the moment, he is without a club, having been sacked by Nottingham Forest a few weeks back.

Celtic fans would love to see Postecoglou back in the Parkhead hot seat, there is no doubt about that. But since the start, there have been doubts about the Australian's own willingness to return to the club.

There have been suggestions that Postecoglou wants to take a break from football after being sacked twice since the summer. But it might not just be that preventing his return to Celtic.

Postecoglou might be looking to remain in the Premier League. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, former Australia Rugby Union manager Eddie Jones said in an interview with the Daily Mail:

"My mate Ange Postecoglou at Nottingham Forest got cut after 39 days. We keep in contact. I saw the rumour about him going to Celtic, but I don’t know whether he’d go back there.

“Having experienced the Premier League, he’d like to stay in that area. Who knows. "

Well, if Postecoglou really does not fancy a return to Celtic then that would be the end of the story. It remains to be seen if the suggestion is accurate or not.

It is worth pointing out though that Postecoglou might have a tough time getting another job in the Premier League any time soon after how things turned out for him at Nottingham Forest. He only lasted 39 days in that job before he was sacked.

So, it is safe to assume that top clubs would not be looking to bring him in anytime soon. On the other hand, he is not the type of manager who will thrive in a defensive team that is just hoping to avoid relegation one way or the other.
