Celtic have made a fast start to the summer transfer window. We have not seen the club show this kind of urgency for the past few years, always letting things drag on for much longer than needed. But this time, they appear to have changed their attitude. The arrival of Kieran Tierney has already been announced and it looks like another signing is now not far away.
Earlier in the summer, there had been suggestions that Celtic had managed to agree on personal terms with Benjamin Nygren. Now, there is further development in that saga.
As reported by Anthony Joseph, Celtic have agreed a transfer fee of £1.7 million to sign Nygren from Nordsjaelland. They will now look to finalise the move with the Swedish international.
Nygren scored 16 goals and provided 4 assists in 32 appearances in the 24/25 season. At the international level, he has scored twice in 4 games for Sweden. So, this has to be considered as a major coup for the Hoops.
'Agreed a fee' - Sky Sports man drops brilliant Celtic news as Nygren signing close
Nygren has primarily played as a winger. But there have been some suggestions lately that Brendan Rodgers views him as more of a number 10 in his system. That would mean that Celtic continue their search for a winger.
That makes sense, when you see the direction in which the rumours have been pointing in recent days. Despite closing in on a move for Nygren, the speculation linking the club with Michel-Ange Balikwisha has gone nowhere.
So, there is a real possibility that Celtic could end up signing both this summer. What does that mean for the future of someone like Nicolas Kuhn, who continues to be linked with a move away? Does it mean he will leave?
