There is some bad news for Celtic when it comes to the summer window. So far, the Hoops have been impressive with their transfer business. And with Nicolas Kuhn leaving for Como FC, the Scottish champions are expected to make a statement signing to fill the void left behind by the German winger. Unfortunately, it looks like their top target in that regard is headed elsewhere.
It had looked like Celtic were looking to repeat their trick by signing the player who replaced Kuhn at Rapid Vienna. But unfortunately, it appears that is now off the cards.
As reported by Anthony Joseph, Nice are closing in on the signing of Isak Jansson. The clubs have agreed a fee of £9m, plus add-ons.
Celtic had made an enquiry to sign Jansson as well and some sources suggested that they had even put in a bid. But the two clubs were far apart when it comes to the valuation of the Swedish winger.
'Agreed' - Anthony Joseph confirms bad news for Celtic
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Celtic and their quest to find a proper replacement for Kuhn. Jansson would have fit the bill but then again, he is set to leave Rapid Vienna for three times the fee that the German winger had moved to Parkhead.
So, it is not hard to understand why Celtic might not have been keen on the move. Let's see who their alternative targets are in that area of the pitch.
Reports coming out of Belgium have suggested that Celtic and Royal Antwerp have made progress on talks for Michel-Ange Balikwisha after the deal had stalled earlier in the summer. Let's see if the Hoops are able to get that over the line in the near future. And will they try to sign another winger after that?
