Of course, Celtic fans love to see the club show some ambition and shell out significant fees to sign players. Last summer, they did just that while signing Adam Idah and Arne Engels. Neither of those signings can be declared a 'success' so far, though. Instead, the arrival of Kasper Schmeichel on a free transfer has had a greater impact on the team.

There are always great players available as free agents every summer. It is just about keeping an eye out and getting deals done for them ahead of other teams.

In an article looking at players set to become free agents this summer that Celtic and the Rangers could sign, Glasgow World suggested Javi Puado. The 26-year-old forward currently plays for Espanyol and has captained the La Liga team on a consistent basis over the course of the campaign.

Puado's current contract with Espanyol is set to run out this summer. The player has a transfer valuation set at around €8 million but it looks like he is set to be available for free. It might be the perfect opportunity for Celtic to try and sign him.

There are a few positions where Celtic might be looking to strengthen this summer. It is up top and on the wings.

Incidentally, Puado can play in both those positions. In 27 appearances for Espanyol this season, he has scored 10 goals and provided 2 assists, which is a good return playing for a team trying to avoid getting relegated.

Of course, Celtic will face tough competition if they indeed try to sign Puado as a free agent in the summer. There has been some speculation that Atletico Madrid could end up making a move for the player and in such a scenario, it is hard to imagine the Hoops win the race.
