Over the years, we have seen quite a few players don Celtic gear, even when they have no past affiliation with the club. But rarely have active ones done so, and that is understandable. This time around though, a 29-year-old Spanish midfielder has donned the Hoops' jacket while talking during a press conference.
The player we are talking about is Cristian Rodriguez. Do not be confused. It is not the Uruguayan legend, who also played for Atletico Madrid.
The Spaniard was on the books at Atletico Madrid as well but was never able to make it to the senior team. The most prominent club he has played for over the course of his career is Malaga.
Rodriguez currently plays for Ceuta in the Spanish second division. And in a rare move, he appeared in a press conference while wearing a green Celtic jacket. You can watch the video on the club's official accounts. It is a beautiful piece of clothing, if we may add. The Spaniard has great taste.

Of course, there are many who might choose to read between the lines. But to be honest, there is very little chance that Celtic will try to sign a journeyman midfielder who has spent most of his career in the lower divisions of Spanish football.
Still, it is always nice to see players around the globe show their support for the club. We can only wish Rodriguez the best of luck moving forward. His Ceuta side are currently tenth in the Segunda division.
That being said, the competition between the teams in the Spanish second tier seems to be very tight. As a result, only one point separates Ceuta with fifth-placed Burgos. A good run of results and they might very well find themselves right in the mix for the promotional spots.
