Kristoffer Ajer had a very successful time at Celtic, enjoying a rise from being a young talent to a regular starter for the Hoops. He would leave the club in the summer of 2021 in order to make a move to the Premier League, as the Norwegian joined Brentford. He remains there to this day and things are going well, as evident from the fact that he recently signed a long-term contract extension with them.
Ajer was recently back in Glasgow in order to take part in the game between Scotland and Norway. He was one of the starters as the two teams played out a 3-3 draw at Hampden Park. And he only had positive things to say about Celtic.
Ajer seems to have good memories of working with Brendan Rodgers as well. It was under the management of the Northern Irishman that he became a regular in the Celtic first-team and never looked back after that.
As reported by the Daily Record, Ajer said while talking about Celtic and Rodgers:
"“It was special to come back to Scotland. I loved my time here so it was great to be back again. It’s great to see my old manager back at Celtic as well and to see them doing so well again.“I am really happy for them because Celtic will always be special to me.“Brendan was amazing for me, the way he helped me, the way he spoke to me.”"
Ajer makes fantastic admission about Celtic
It is good to see Ajer doing so well since leaving Celtic. Of course, it is never nice to see one of your best players head for the exit door. But that is just the reality of life supporting the Hoops.
One cannot forget their positive contributions to the club while they were at Parkhead. And Ajer is certainly someone who was one of the better players whenever Celtic took to the pitch.
It feels like he has been around for a long, long time but in fact, he is still just 25 years of age and is yet to enter his prime as a footballer. Having penned a new long-term deal with Brentford recently, it feels like the Norwegian international will remain at the London club for the foreseeable future.
