Celtic are always on the lookout for bright young talents. We saw the club sign nine players in the summer transfer window, all of them highly-rated youngsters, except for Nat Phillips, who was brought in on loan from Liverpool for just the first half of the season as a result of the number of injuries at centre-back at that point in time.

Most Celtic fans want the club to shift some of their focus towards signing proven and experienced players. But at the same time, it is important to recognise that developing youngsters and then moving them on for major transfer fees is a permanent part of the Hoops’ transfer policy.

One youngster who is making his mark in the English Championship this season is Jobe Bellingham. Yes, the brother of the Real Madrid superstar. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 3 goals and provided 1 assist in 17 appearances for Sunderland so far.

Bellingham left Birmingham City to join Sunderland in the summer. Initially, there were suggestions that the transfer fee was around £3 million. But since then, some rumours have suggested that it was lower than that.

It would be safe to say that Bellingham is a player in demand. He has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur recently. Some reports coming out of Spain have claimed that Real Madrid are keeping an eye on the 18-year-old as well.

But a place like Celtic might be better for his development. He would get first-team chances more easily at Parkhead than at those clubs. He is a starter for Sunderland.

Of course, one cannot deny that a lot of eyes are on Jobe because of how good of a player Jude is. Naturally, a lot of teams might be ready to take a chance on his potential in hopes that he turns out to be a superstar as well.
