Celtic have been home to some interesting names over the years. And that is not limited to just on the pitch action. There are many working behind the scenes at Parkhead as well and some of them have seen their careers head in a positive direction after joining the Hoops. One such name could be headed to Manchester United in the near future.

Let’s rewind back to Brendan Rodgers’ first stint as Celtic manager. During that period of time, the club’s chief scout was Lee Congerton.

Congerton would leave Celtic soon after the departure of Rodgers and joined the Northern Irishman at Leicester City. Currently, he is the Managing Director Professional Football at Atalanta. And a move to Old Trafford could be on the cards.

The Old Trafford club are looking for a sporting director right now. As reported by The Telegraph, Congerton is one of the names on the list of candidates for the Manchester United job.

It is safe to say that the sporting director of Manchester United is one of the most important jobs in all of football. And if Congerton does end up getting it, then it would certainly have to be considered the peak of his career so far.

It remains to be seen how things play out for him moving forward. It would be safe to say that there have been changes to Celtic’s transfer policy since Congerton left the club in 2019 in order to join Leicester City.

With Mark Lawwell as the chief scout of the club, they have spread their network further and wider in search of talents, especially since the summer of 2021, when Ange Postecoglou was appointed as the manager of the club. The Australian might have left since then but the Hoops followed the tried-and-tested formula this summer too.
