Celtic might have brought in a number of new players to the club over the summer but they are expected to remain busy in the January transfer window as well in an attempt to further strengthen Brendan Rodgers’ squad. Most fans view striker and goalkeeper as two positions in need of reinforcements.

On the other hand, centre-back is one area where they have plenty of options right now. Cameron Carter-Vickers and Liam Scales are the first-choice starters in the heart of defence.

Also, they shelled out a combined €8.5 million in transfer fees to sign Gustaf Lagerbielke and Maik Nawrocki in the summer. Stephen Welsh was handed a long-term contract extension not too long ago as well. Nat Phillips is only on loan, from Liverpool, for the first half of the season and is expected to return. And one cannot forget Yuki Kobayashi.

Thus, most fans feel that Celtic do not need to sign another centre-back right now. That has not stopped them from being linked with one though.

As reported by Football Scotland, reports linking Nathaniel Adjei with a move to Celtic Park this coming January are legitimate. There have been scouts keeping an eye on the 21-year-old centre-back. But they may not necessarily make a move for him.

Celtic are not the only club to be linked with Adjei, who currently plays for Hammarby. It is believed that the Rangers are keeping an eye on him, as are English Championship side Preston North End.

On the other hand, it is believed that it would take a transfer fee in the range of £3 million to sign the Ghana youth international from Hammarby. It remains to be seen what the future holds but at the moment, it honestly does not feel like Celtic need to sign another centre-back.
