Michael Beale’s time at Ibrox was not the great success that most of their fans expected when he arrived. He did not even last a year in the hot seat and left without having won a single piece of silverware. On the other hand, Celtic continued to life trophies and had a fantastic record in the Glasgow Derby as well.

One of the major mistakes that the Rangers might have made during the time of Beale as manager was not signing Luis Palma. The Honduran had been linked with a move to Ibrox for quite some time.

Nothing ended up materialising though and he ended up joining Celtic instead. And he is already looking like one of the best players in the Premiership.

Palma scored one goal and assisted three in Celtic’s 6-0 win over Aberdeen at the weekend. And following that display, some of Beale’s past comments have gone viral.

As reported by the Daily Record, Beale said:

"“There was nothing between me and the player. It was very late into last season, early into pre-season when someone from his club was pushing him around and we could have taken him on loan maybe with an obligation (to buy) at the time, but it wasn’t one we were willing to do.”"

It is safe to say that the Rangers might be regretting their decision to not sign Palma now. He has been one of Celtic’s best players in recent times and might already be a regular starter for them. Quite a turnaround for someone whom the Rangers were not willing to do a deal for.

Of course, it is way too early to class Palma as a transfer success already. But he certainly seems to be well on his way to achieving that tag. He just needs to continue performing.

Palma adds a lot to this Celtic team that they appeared to be missing. He is someone who can score and assist consistently. For all of Daizen Maeda’s brilliance, he is not the most effective winger. The Honduran is also someone who is great at set-pieces and has the ability to pull off something magical from distance.
