Celtic might have gotten themselves a 6-0 win over Aberdeen to bounce back after the Atletico Madrid result, but one major worry coming out of the game was the situation of Kyogo Furuhashi. The Japanese forward had scored earlier in the match but then suffered a head knock that saw him being substituted early in the second half.

It was the result of a challenge from Aberdeen defender Slobodan Rubezic. And these sorts of knocks are always worrying.

Kyogo will not be taking part in the Japan national team’s upcoming games as a result, as he looks to recover over the international break. There seems to be a positive update regarding the matter from the player himself.

While Kyogo does not seem to remember much from the incident, it looks like he is fine. As reported by Glasgow Times, the Japanese forward wrote on Instagram:

"“I don’t know how long I was there, but I don’t remember anything about my friends worrying about me afterwards, about walking off the pitch on my own. I don’t remember anything.“At the hospital, I was told that everything was fine and I felt that the football gods had protected me. I will never forget my gratitude and will do my best for the future.”"

We can only wish Kyogo the best and hope that he recovers fully and quickly. It is never nice to see a player, of your team or the opposition, get injured.

Kyogo is one of Celtic’s most important players. Following the update, it looks like he should not be missing any action after the international break. But if he does, Oh Hyeon-gyu seems ready to provide cover.

Oh came on as a substitute against Aberdeen and got himself a brace, with both goals coming in stoppage time. One has to point out that the South Korean striker has looked a lot better in recent weeks and seems to be finally finding his feet under the management of Brendan Rodgers after a slow start to the campaign.

Let’s hope that Celtic can continue on with this momentum after the international break. Their next game is against Motherwell before a trip to Rome to take on Lazio.
