Celtic fans were left disappointed by the 6-0 defeat at the hands of Atletico Madrid in midweek and understandably so. Perhaps a loss was not an unexpected result considering the opposition and the venue. But the result certainly is not acceptable even if they did have a man sent off in Daizen Maeda.

One player certainly appears to have made an impression over the two legs against Atletico Madrid though. And it looks like he caught the eye of Jose Gimenez.

The Uruguayan international has been playing for Atletico Madrid for years now. And it seems like he has been impressed with what he saw from Luis Palma. The Honduran international did score a fantastic goal in the first leg.

As reported by Deportes TVC, Denia Cerrato, who works at Gimenez’s home, said:

"“On Wednesday after the game he told me that he had been impressed by Luis Palma’s humility, that you can see that he is a boy who comes from below and that he is fighting to get ahead, like he did a while ago.”"

Palma certainly has impressed with his performances for Celtic since arriving in the summer from Aris FC. Not many gave him a chance to replace Jota but he certainly is making a good case for it at the moment.

Palma has certainly been putting up some big numbers lately. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 5 goals and provided 5 assists in 12 appearances for Celtic so far.

Some of the goals that he has scored have been top quality as well and he certainly looks like a player who might have a very bright future ahead of him. Now, he needs to make sure that he continues to perform at this level consistently and does not fade away as the season progresses.

With Daizen Maeda and Liel Abada out injured, there is a lot of responsibility on the shoulders of Palma right now. He certainly does not seem to be shying away from it, as he provided three assists and scored a goal against Aberdeen this weekend.
