Atletico Madrid player visited Celtic dressing room for winger’s jersey
The two games between Celtic and Atletico Madrid might not have been the most light-hearted of contests with a couple of red cards being shown. But there clearly is mutual respect between the two sets of players, as is evident from one of the Spanish team’s stars visiting the opposition dressing room after the game at the Metropolitano Stadium.
There was not much positivity to take from the 6-0 loss at the hands of Atletico Madrid away in Spain. But there is at least one feel-good story coming out of the trip.
As reported by the Daily Record, Jose Maria Gimenez entered the Celtic dressing room after the game at the Metropolitano Stadium. According to reports in Spain, the Atletico Madrid defender wanted to ask for Luis Palma’s shirt and when informed it was for a Honduran employee, the winger took the time out to give his jersey and take a picture with the fan in question.
Palma might not have been able to match his heroics from the Parkhead fixture by scoring against Atletico Madrid. But there was at least a touching story to take home from his visit.

The 6-0 defeat at the hands of Atletico Madrid showed that Celtic still have a lot to learn at this level if they want to make any progress in Europe. Even with a player sent off, that sort of result is unacceptable.
As for Palma, he has done well. The Honduran winger seems to have established himself as a starter in Brendan Rodgers’ side already.
Celtic will need to find him a new partner on the wings though. Daizen Maeda has now been ruled out for more than a month. Liel Abada is already out injured. Thus, expect either James Forrest or Yang Hyun-jun to be starting this weekend.
