Celtic have had a stop-start beginning to Brendan Rodgers’ second stint as the manager of the club. Just when it looked like things were falling into place, the 6-0 defeat away in the Spanish capital against Atletico Madrid raised quite a few questions. It remains to be seen how the Hoops bounce back.

It would be safe to say that Celtic are not playing as well as they did last season. But some players have certainly benefited from the appointment of Rodgers.

The first name that comes to mind is that of Matt O’Riley. The Danish youth international has been Celtic’s best player this season so far. He was very good in the past as well but has taken his game to a new level under the management of Rodgers. A Scottish record transfer seems only a matter of time and interestingly, he has been tipped for a reunion with Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur.

As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Andy Walker told Go Radio:

"“If you threw another club at him, if you threw Spurs at him.“Then, I think he would want to go. Celtic have got him to a long-term contract, so they would be well-rewarded for him.”"

O’Riley was signed by Celtic from MK Dons in early 2022 when Postecoglou was the manager of the club. Interestingly, it looked like he was not the club’s first-choice that winter but when a move for Riley McGree did not materialise, they went for him. Things have worked out better than anybody could have expected.

O’Riley was a regular starter under the management of Postecoglou as well, except for a short spell when Aaron Mooy had moved ahead of him in the pecking order last season. Thus, the Dane should not have any problems working with the Australian again.

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for O’Riley in recent times. It remains to be seen if they end up making a serious offer for the Danish youth international in the future.
