Celtic confirm Green Brigade decision amid criticism
Celtic have come under quite a bit of criticism from certain sections of the club’s fan base and beyond, after deciding to ban the members of the Green Brigade from attending matches. It remains to be seen how that will remain in place but for the time being, it looks like the Hoops are standing strong in their decision.
Of course, this is not the first time that a major European club has decided to ban their own ultras group. In the past, the likes of FC Barcelona and Real Madrid have done so as well.
Years later, those decisions from FC Barcelona and Real Madrid are praised by many as the right ones. On the other hand, Celtic have been on the receiving end of criticism and it looks like the club have now decided to explain their decision a bit.
As reported by BBC, Celtic have written to season ticket holders to explain why the Green Brigade has been banned from attending matches. They also confirmed that the suspension remains in place.

No isolated incident appears to have been behind the club’s decision. Instead, the ban was imposed due to “unacceptable behaviours” leading to safety concerns.
Of course, there will be people who sit on both sides of the fence. But one cannot deny that the Green Brigade are a major part of what makes the Parkhead atmosphere so special. Thus, it will be good to see them back at Parkhead in the future.
But it does not feel like we will see the Green Brigade back at Parkhead anytime soon, if ever. It also seems like there are some individuals who are ready to leave the group in order to get back to watching the Hoops in action at Parkhead.
