Kyogo injury claim in 6-0 Celtic defeat vs Atletico Madrid
Celtic suffered their biggest loss of the season as Atletico Madrid scored six unanswered goals against them at the Metropolitano Stadium. Even though Diego Simeone’s side were heavy favourites, that is not a result that many people would have seen coming, even when Daizen Maeda was sent off in the first half.
The game was still somewhat in the balance until Alvaro Morata scored Atletico Madrid’s second right before half-time. Of course, the Spanish side ran away with it in the second half, scoring four more times.
One man who was not at his usual best on the night was Kyogo Furuhashi. The Celtic forward had scored in his last two Champions League outings but was pretty ineffective in this one. Of course, with the lack of service for most of the match, that should not be a major surprise.
Kyogo’s form has seen a slight dip in recent games though, at least by his standards. Could he be dealing with an injury?

As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Pat Nevin said while speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live Sport:
"“There is no real movement.“Even Kyogo, who always seems to be sprinting and running everywhere, trying to run behind all the time.“He hasn’t really looked like that tonight. He has been a lot more static than he usually is. Sometimes you wonder if he is carrying a bit of injury and that sometimes slows players down. Very unlike him this game.”"
It is way too early to be worried about Kyogo. Overall, he has been in good form this season and scored some very important goals, against the likes of the Rangers, Lazio and Atletico Madrid.
Yes, he is not scoring at the rate that he was last season when he scored 34 goals. But overall, he is still one of Celtic’s most important players without a doubt. And he just needs to go on a bit of a run of form in order to rediscover his best.
At the same time, one would hope that Oh Hyeon-gyu is ready to take up the goalscoring mantle in the scenario that Kyogo really is carrying a bit of a niggling injury problem. Or he just goes on an underwhelming run of form.
