Celtic suffer blow in race to sign Real Madrid player
Celtic were busy bringing youngsters to the club over the summer transfer window. Many fans were left disappointed though by the fact that the Hoops did not add any real experience to the side. They will be hoping that they bring in more established players in the future and have been linked with some high-profile names.
One amongst them is Real Madrid’s second-choice goalkeeper, Andriy Lunin. His current deal is set to run out next summer.
Lunin has been one of the most highly-rated young goalkeepers in the world for a long time but that has not translated to consistent game time at Real Madrid. Now 24 years of age, he is expected to leave at the end of the season in search of a club where he will get first-team chances.
Celtic have been linked with a move for Lunin lately. But it looks like they are not the only ones interested in signing the Real Madrid goalkeeper.

As reported by Fichajes, Real Betis intends to resume its efforts to secure the signing of Lunin for next season. They are believed to have been interested in the Real Madrid goalkeeper for a while.
A club like Real Betis could be a more attractive destination for someone like Lunin than Celtic. He would get the chance to remain in Spain and play for one of the better teams in La Liga.
Celtic are in need of a long-term solution at goalkeeper though. If they are unable to sign Lunin, they will have to look elsewhere. There have already been several question marks around Joe Hart and he will be 37 before this season ends. Interestingly, the Hoops have also been linked with Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher, who finds himself in a difficult situation at Anfield despite his unquestionable talent and quality.
