Eric Dier makes Tottenham decision amid Celtic links

It is quite clear that Celtic will need to add some more experience to their squad in the upcoming transfer windows. One of the more high-profile names that the club have been linked with in recent months is that of Eric Dier, who is struggling to get into the Tottenham Hotspur team since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou.

Dier had been a key part of Tottenham Hotspur’s team for nearly a decade. But this season, he has yet to play a single minute of football.

Unsurprisingly, the Englishman has been linked with a move away from Tottenham Hotspur. And as reported by 90min in August, Celtic were believed to be admirers of Dier.

Interestingly, Dier’s contract with Tottenham Hotspur runs out at the end of the season. It looks like the player has made a decision regarding his future.

As reported by Football Insider, Dier wants to leave Tottenham Hotspur as a free agent rather than in January. It is believed that talks over a new deal have collapsed.

If Dier does become available as a free agent next summer, then there is not expected to be a lack of interest in his signature. There is a reason why he was a regular part of Tottenham Hotspur’s first-team for nearly a decade, he is a quality player.

Someone like Dier would be an excellent addition to this Celtic team. But at the same time, it is hard to see that happening.

It is more likely that he would remain in the Premier League with another team. Or leave for a club in one of the other top five European leagues.

It would be a major surprise if Dier did end up joining Celtic as a free agent come next summer. But then, never say never in football.
