Celtic took the controversial decision of banning the Green Brigade recently. It remains to be seen how long the suspension continues. But this is not the first time that an ultras group has been suspended by a club. In fact, European giants like Real Madrid and FC Barcelona have done so in the past.

The majority of the Celtic fan base does not seem to agree with the decision to ban the Green Brigade though. At least that is what the atmosphere feels like on social media.

Of course, they have not always made the most popular choices over the years. But it is undeniable that they are a big part of the lore that involves the legendary atmosphere at Celtic Park.

Brendan Rodgers has finally given his take on the matter as well. And the Celtic manager has made his thoughts clear on the situation.

As reported by Glasgow Live, Rodgers said about the suspension:

"“The club, and hopefully the guys who are out of the club, can find a solution. Because they are amazing, I will say that.”"

At the same time, Rodgers made sure to let it be known that he feels that football clubs should revolve around the football:

"“For me, our club’s strength is being together behind the team, and hopefully very, very soon we can find that, and we can support the football. Football clubs are about football. That’s the simplicity of it for me.”"

It will be interesting to see how things play out regarding the ban on the Green Brigade. It is very possible that we could see them back in the stadiums later on in the season.

But considering the current climate, one would expect them to remain suspended for the foreseeable future. At the same time though, with seemingly the majority of the club’s fan base against the decision, there will certainly be pressure on the Hoops.

When it comes to the action on the pitch, Celtic have an away game against Ross County this weekend. Then they will travel to the Spanish capital to take on Atletico Madrid in arguably their toughest match of this season.
