Celtic need to make additions in a few positions. Centre-back certainly does not feel like one of them. It is funny how quickly things can change in football. Late in the summer transfer window, the Hoops were scrambling for centre-backs with the likes of Cameron Carter-Vickers, Stephen Welsh, Maik Nawrocki and Yuki Kobayashi all out injured at the same time.

Nat Phillips was brought in on a half-season loan deal from Liverpool. But a few months on, it feels like Celtic have far too many centre-backs.

Liam Scales has enjoyed a meteoric rise and is a nailed-on starter right now. Carter-Vickers is pretty much an automatic pick when fit.

As a result, summer signings Nawrocki and Gustaf Lagerbielke as well as Welsh might struggle for playing time moving forward. Phillips is expected to head back to Liverpool in January. And there are serious question marks over the future of Kobayashi at Parkhead. Despite this, Celtic are being linked with another centre-back.

Sky Sports link Celtic and Rangers with centre-back

As reported by Sky Sports, Rangers and Celtic are among the clubs monitoring Hammarby centre-back Nathaniel Adjei. Clubs from Belgium and Italy also hold an interest in the 21-year-old Ghana youth international.

Adjei has had a breakout season at Hammarby. And with the Swedish season coming to an in November, it is very possible that he could be on the move in January, with there being quite a bit of interest in his signature.

While there is no doubt that Adjei seems a bright prospect and would fit the profile of player Celtic is looking to sign, would he be the right addition at this point in time? Of course, the outlook on a move could change if a couple of centre-backs end up leaving Parkhead in the January transfer window.
