Celtic boss explains Cameron Carter-Vickers absence amid concerns
Cameron Carter-Vickers has already dealt with his fair share of injury problems lately. The American is widely considered as Celtic’s best defender and leader at the back. Naturally, fans were left worried when they saw that he was missing from the matchday squad against St Mirren. There had been no reports of any injuries ahead of the match. So, there was a mixture of confusion and concern among the fanbase.
Another spell on the sidelines for Carter-Vickers would be a problem for the Hoops. They do not appear to be at their best at the moment anyway and have had somewhat of a stop-start season so far.
Fortunately, it looks like Carter-Vickers is not injured but he is still working on his knee. He has just been given some rest ahead of the weekend game against Ross County.
As reported by The Scottish Sun, Brendan Rodgers told BBC Sportsound about the status of Carter-Vickers:
"“It was the game plan to bring him out. He’s still working on his knee and some of the issues around that.“He’s played a lot of games in a small period so this is a chance for him to recover and be ready for the weekend and beyond that.”"

That will come as a relief to the Celtic fans. If they are to be at their best, they will need Carter-Vickers in the team.
Their last couple of performances have been a bit worrying though. It had looked like this young team had found its feet after some early season struggles. But now, it appears that they have taken a step back once again and are struggling for rhythm.
That is not good news for Celtic. Every point is important in the league and they cannot afford to drop many. Especially since the Rangers have Philippe Clement in place now and are expected to enjoy a new manager bounce as a result. That was the case with both Michael Beale and Giovanni van Bronckhorst, even though neither proved to be a long-term success. The Hoops had matched them every step of the way on those two occasions. And they must do that once again.
