Celtic’s transfer policy underwent quite some change following the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as the manager of the club in the summer of 2021. They spread their scouting network further and wider than ever before, bringing in players from all over the globe. It translated to success on the pitch, with the Australian guiding them to five trophies in two years.

Postecoglou left Celtic in the summer to join Tottenham Hotspur and was replaced by Brendan Rodgers. The club have stuck to their transfer policy though.

One thing that they have not done for a few years now is sign players from Scottish Premiership clubs. The last such signing was David Turnbull, who was brought in from Motherwell. Benjamin Siegrist was playing for Dundee United before joining Celtic, but he was a free agent when the move was made.

That does not mean that there are no great talents in the Scottish Premiership. In fact, many have gone abroad and thrived in top leagues in recent years. Thus, that is one aspect where Celtic need to improve, identifying talents closer to home.

Celtic tipped to make move for Aberdeen’s best player

Celtic could do with another striker right now. Kyogo has continued to perform despite the departure of Ange Postecoglou but Oh Hyeon-gyu is yet to score a goal this season. Just two centre-forwards is not enough depth anyway for the amount of games the Hoops have to play.

Aberdeen are going through a difficult campaign and currently sit at 10th in the Premiership table. But that has not stopped Bojan Miovski from finding the back of the net consistently. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Tam McManus told PLZ Soccer:

"“I think he is a really good player.“A really good striker. Celtic or Rangers. I think he is of that level.“I think he can go in there and contribute to Celtic and Rangers. I am not trying to sell him. But I think Aberdeen would struggle to hold onto him because he is still scoring goals in a team that is pretty poor, at the minute and inconsistent.“He gets all types of goals. He can run in behind. He is clever. I think he is a really, really talented player.”"

Miovski has 9 goals to his name already this season. He scored 18 in the previous campaign. And someone like him could be a smart addition for Celtic, even if the move does not grab a lot of headlines.

Celtic need another striker. They can go out and make another ‘project’ signing, that might or not work. Or they could bring in a Premiership-proven international striker like Miovski to cover for Kyogo.

More. Carl Starfelt seems to have made major mistake leaving Celtic. light
