Celtic have a lot of players on their books at the moment and yet, it does not feel like they have genuine quality when it comes to squad depth. That has been clear for all to see in the previous two matches, against Atletico Madrid and Hibernian. Brendan Rodgers’ substitutions faced a lot of criticism but then, what other options did he have on the bench?

There are a few Celtic players out on loan, who are making an impression though. Could they possibly return to Parkhead in the future and get a chance in the first-team?

If there is one thing we have learned from Liam Scales’ rise this season, it is to never count anyone out. The defender was near the bottom of the pecking order just a couple of months ago and it was a series of injuries that most probably prevented him from leaving the club. Now, he is a nailed-on starter in Rodgers’ team.

Yosuke Ideguchi is someone who is having an impressive loan spell right now at J-League club Avispa Fukuoka, Could that result in him getting a second chance at Celtic in the future?

Judging from Ideguchi’s comments, it seems like he is uncertain what the future holds for him. As reported by the Daily Record, he said:

"“At the moment I am only concentrating on trying to finish as high up the J-League table as I can with Avispa Fukuoka.“I was happy to be offered the chance of games here at a time when I wasn’t able to play any matches at Celtic and I had a strong desire to play. There weren’t many clubs who wanted me, but they approached me, so I decided to go right away. It was an instant decision. As for next season, I don’t know what’s going to happen or whether I will still stay here. At the moment, there’s no point in looking too far into the future. And that’s why I will do everything I can for the team while I am here.”"

Ideguchi suffered an injury earlier on in the season but is now back to full fitness and is a regular starter for Avispa Fukuoka. His return has coincided with a good run of form for the club, who have improved a lot this season and look set for a midtable finish in the J-League.

Ideguchi was signed during the time of Ange Postecoglou as manager but never really managed to find a spot for himself in the team. Could Rodgers give him a chance? Time shall tell. It is also possible that he could end up moving back to the J-League permanently.
