Celtic fans were not left with the club’s performance in their 0-0 draw against Hibernian away at Easter Road. The Hoops had been on an impressive winning run in the league over the last few months but that unfortunately came to an end. Another worry coming out of the game was the status of Alistair Johnston.

Johnston appeared to pick up a head knock when the ball struck him in the face from close range. The Canadian international received treatment and attempted to play on, but could not and had to be substituted off.

Johnston has been Celtic’s best right-back since joining the club earlier in the year. Thus, another spell on the sidelines for him would come as a problem for the Hoops.

A head knock is always worrying regardless. But fortunately, it looks like there will be no lasting effect on the Canadian international and he should be fine.

As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Brendan Rodgers said to BBC Radio Scotland after the match regarding the status of Johnston:

"“I just spoke to the medical team and they said he’s fine. It was just that moment he felt a wee bit funny. I think overall he’s fine.”"

The news will come as a relief to Celtic fans. Johnston is a very important part of this team and it is never nice to see a player pick up any sort of fitness problem. We can only hope that he is back to full fitness as soon as possible.

Coming to Celtic’s performance against Hibernian, it left a lot to be desired. And it allows the Rangers a chance to cut into the lead at the top of the table. At the same time, it is important to recognise that there are always going to be some stumbles along the road. Despite the recent good form, there is something still missing from this team and hopefully more additions will be made in January in order to take care of the areas in need.
