Celtic’s transfer strategy underwent some significant changes with the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as the manager of the club in the summer of 2021. They spread their scouting net further and wider in order to bring in talent. And that has served them quite well till now. The Hoops won five trophies over the previous two seasons and are leading the Premiership table by seven points right now.

Postecoglou is no longer the manager of Celtic, having left merely days after leading them to the treble in order to join Tottenham Hotspur, who he has sitting at the top of the Premier League table right now. But that has not stopped the Hoops from sticking to their transfer strategy.

Celtic have signed three players from the South Korean top flight this year already. And they are being linked with another midfielder.

Jung Ho-yeon currently plays for K League side Gwangju FC. But it is believed that he is on the radar of Celtic. And the player has admitted to having heard the rumours as well, although no direct contact has been made with him so far.

As reported by Glasgow World, Jung told Sports G:

"“I know that such stories are coming out around me. In fact, there has never been a specific or direct contact so far. I heard the same story from my team and agent. I just want to be faithful to my team in every moment.”"

Jung is a defensive midfielder and that is a position where Celtic have struggled to bring in the right player for quite some time. They have brought in quite a few to fill that area of need but nobody has been able to find much success. Kwon Hyeok-kyu was signed just this summer.

We have not seen Kwon play a single minute of football for Celtic so far though. And there are already question marks over his future at the club, and understandably so. It remains to be seen if the club do end up making a move for Jung in the near future.
