Celtic have been very active in recent months when it comes to agreeing contracts with players. The likes of Matt O’Riley, Reo Hatate, Kyogo, Daizen Maeda, Callum McGregor and a few others have put pen to paper on new deals. And the Hoops are not focusing on just the senior team either.

One complaint that a lot of Celtic fans have had in recent years, and justifiably so, is that the club have struggled to bring through their youth stars into the senior. Celtic have not been helped by the fact that many of them have chosen to leave before ever making a real impact.

The club are unsurprisingly keen to keep their best youth prospects in Glasgow for the foreseeable future. And they have agreed a three-year contract with one of them.

As reported by Celtic’s official website, Sean McArdle has signed his first professional contract with the Hoops. He put pen to paper on a three-year deal that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2026

McArdle plays as a midfielder and is 16 years of age right now. He is believed to have a bright future ahead of him though.

McArdle has been involved at both the u18 level and the B Team this season. And it is quite clear that the club have high hopes for him and his future, as proven by the three-year contract handed to him.

Now, it remains to be seen if McArdle is able to impress at youth level to the point that he breaks into the senior team picture at Celtic. It is going to be difficult but not impossible.

Celtic do need to promote some of their youth players into the senior team. The only one with a clear role in the current side is Callum McGregor.
