Celtic made nine signings in the summer transfer window. Seven arrived on a permanent basis and two on loan deals. They mostly stuck to signing highly-rated youngsters even though the majority of fans wanted the Hoops to add some established and experienced names to their squad in order to tackle the Champions League challenge better.

Till now, we have seen some show flashes of brilliance. On the other hand, things are not looking so bright for others.

One player who has not gotten a look in till now is Kwon Hyeok-kyu. The South Korean midfielder was brought in the summer from Busan IPark.

Defensive midfield has been a position where Celtic have struggled to find any stability for a long time now. They have signed plenty of players in that area of the pitch but nobody has been able to make a mark. And unfortunately, it looks like Kwon is headed in the same direction at the moment.

Kwon has not made a single appearance for Celtic since arriving in the summer. And if things do not improve quickly, it is hard to see his Parkhead career go anywhere.

Many might argue that it is way too early to reach any conclusions. But the fact of the matter is that Kwon simply is not playing any football at the moment. In fact, he is not even making the bench. It does not feel like he is part of Brendan Rodgers’ plans and the decision to sign him is getting more confusing with every passing day.

On top of everything else, Celtic are already being linked with another South Korean defensive midfielder in the form of Jeong Ho-Yeon. Naturally, one has to wonder what the future holds for Kwon at Parkhead. At this rate, it would not be a surprise to see him head for the exit door soon.
