Fraser Forster certainly has an interesting place in Celtic history. He was superb during his time at the club and put in some memorable performances. He is definitely one of the best goalkeepers that the Hoops have had since the turn of the century. But then, the manner of his exit the second time around did leave a bitter taste in the mouths of a lot of fans.
It was believed that Celtic wanted to sign Forster on a permanent basis after his successful loan spell from Southampton and the English club were open to the move as well. But rumours suggested at the time that it was the player who decided to stay put even though he did not have a starting role there.
Forster’s career has certainly been pretty interesting since then. At 35 years of age, he finds himself at Tottenham Hotspur, the Premier League leaders managed by Ange Postecoglou.
Of course, Forster got the chance to play with a lot of great players during his time at clubs like Celtic, Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur and the England national team. And he has recently picked an all-time 5-a-side team.
Forster picks three Celtic heroes in all-time team
As reported by Football Scotland, Forster said when asked to take a trip down memory lane to pick his dream five-a-side team while speaking with the official Tottenham Hotspur podcast:
"“Right, I’ll put Joe Hart in goal. It’s got to be Harry Kane up front.“Do you know who I’d put in midfield? He played here as well… Victor Wanyama. I played with him at Southampton and Celtic, incredible player. He’d destroy people in midfield.“Not Spurs but Virgil van Dijk. It’s hard to pick another one, Rooney? There’s so many I’ve missed out that should be there, you’ve put me on the spot there!”"
Of course, Van Dijk and Wanyama played for Celtic in the past. Both of them as well as Forster made the move from Parkhead to Southampton, a route taken by quite a few players in recent times.
Hart currently plays for the club and is the number one between the posts. He is 36 years of age though and in the final year of his contract. Interestingly, it is his role that Forster has taken up at Tottenham Hotspur recently.
