Celtic always have an eye out on some of the best youngsters around the world. The club have done a pretty decent job when it comes to identifying talents in recent years, especially during Ange Postecoglou’s first season as manager at Parkhead. It remains to be seen how things turn out for the signings from this summer.

Celtic are already being linked with future moves though. And one player they have been linked with is Valentin Barco of Boca Juniors.

Left-back is viewed as a position where Celtic could improve. Greg Taylor’s performances have been inconsistent this season although he has improved in recent weeks. On the other hand, it does not feel like Alexandro Bernabei has much of a future at Parkhead.

The Argentine defender was signed from Lanus in the summer of 2022 and has not been able to make an impression. Could Celtic end up replacing him by signing another left-back from Argentina?

It is safe to say that there is quite a bit of competition in the race to sign Barco with some of the best clubs in the world believed to be interested in the youngster. And Sergio Aguero seems to be a fan of his abilities.

As reported by HITC, Aguero said while speaking on his Twitch channel:

"“(Barco) plays well. Very good player.“Is he going to stay a little longer in Boca or not? I don’t think he will stay for a long time. He is very good.“City will surely sign him.”"

Time shall tell where Barco ends up. But it is safe to say that it would be considered as a major boost for Celtic, if they are able to sign the left-back from Boca Juniors.

At 19 years of age, he is already playing regular first-team football for Boca Juniors and it is only a matter of time before he makes the move to Europe. It is also believed that there is a $10 million release clause included in his current contract with the Argentine club.
