It is not often that Celtic and Manchester City are linked with the same player, but one Championship striker seems to have caught the eye of the Scottish and English champions. Of course, the Hoops could do with another option up top with Oh Hyeong-gyu yet to score this season.

The player in question is Queens Park Rangers striker Sinclair Armstrong. The 20-year-old has been making an impression lately despite the fact that he has scored just one goal in this campaign till now.

He recently made his senior debut for the Republic of Ireland national team. And he is in the final year of his current deal at QPR.

As reported by Evening Standard, QPR have offered Armstrong a new five-year contract. Manchester City, Crystal Palace and Celtic are among the clubs who are believed to have shown interest in the striker in the past.

While Armstrong clearly has a lot of good attributes to be linked with clubs like Manchester City, one has to question his record in front of goal before considering any move. The 20-year-old simply does not score often enough at this point in time.

Of course, that does not mean that he could not develop that part of his game moving forward, but Celtic do need someone who can put the ball in the back of the net consistently. Armstrong might not be that player right now.

It remains to be seen if Celtic do end up making a move for the QPR striker in the future. Remaining at his current club might be the most logical step for Armstrong right now though. He is playing consistent first-team football there and seems to be on the right path. Would he get game time ahead of Kyogo at Parkhead?
