Celtic have had more than their fair share of injury problems at the start of the season. Things had started to look up a bit in that regard in recent weeks as quite a few returned to action from the sidelines and others continued their recovery. But now, it looks like Brendan Rodgers might have a fresh issue to worry about.

Daizen Maeda has been earning a lot of plaudits in recent weeks. Statistically, the Japanese forward has not been great this season but nobody can deny what he brings to the table, with his endless energy throughout the 90 minutes helping those around him to no extent.

Unfortunately, it looks like Maeda might have picked up an injury recently. He was involved at the weekend against Kilmarnock and was subbed off in the 89th minute of the game. No issue was mentioned then.

However as reported by Football Scotland, Maeda has withdrawn from the Japan squad with injury being given as the reason. The Japanese forward has pulled out of his national team’s camp for the international break.

It remains to be seen what the injury is as well as the extent of it. Celtic fans will be hoping that it is nothing serious and withdrawing from the national team squad was just a precautionary measure on the part of Maeda in order to not risk anything.

At the same time, Maeda does not seem like someone who would pull out of the Japan squad if there was any chance he could help his national team. Thus, all we can do is wait and see what the situation is.

Maeda is a very important part of this Celtic team. Thus, one can only hope that the Japanese international is back to full fitness as soon as possible.
