Celtic hero tips Ange Postecoglou favourite for Rangers job
A win over St Mirren at the weekend must have taken some pressure off the Rangers’ shoulders and now they are expected to appoint their next manager over the international break. The Ibrox club have a mountain to climb, with Celtic having built up a 7-point lead at the top of the Premiership table after just the first 8 games of the campaign.
It remains to be seen who the Rangers ultimately end up going for. Both Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Michael Beale had arrived with a lot of expectations surrounding them but could not deal with the Celtic challenge.
Van Bronckhorst was in the Ibrox hot seat for barely a year. On the other hand, Beale could not even reach that figure.
Chris Sutton is well-known for his funny takes on the Rangers most of the time. But he appears to have given them some advice on this occasion with regard to their next manager.
Celtic hero tips Ange Postecoglou favourite for Rangers job
As reported by Glasgow Live, Sutton was asked on BBC Radio 5Live to pick who he felt Rangers should go for as their next manager and the former Celtic striker said:
"“Kevin Muscat. I think in a similar route to Ange Postecoglou, he’s been a manager for ten years, he’s got enough experience and has been pretty successful in the J-League.”"
Of course, Muscat has played for Rangers in the past. Thus, there is already that connection and he is very highly rated as a manager as well.
One has to mention the connection between Muscat and Postecoglou as well. The former worked as the assistant manager to the current Tottenham Hotspur boss during their time at Melbourne Victory.
He also was the successor to Postecoglou at both Melbourne Victory and Yokohama F. Marinos and succeeded at both places. He is currently the manager of the J League side.
Muscat has been linked with the Rangers job recently and is believed to be one of the favourites. Now, it remains to be seen if he ends up in the Ibrox hot seat.
