Tottenham Hotspur ready to sign former Celtic player
Ange Postecoglou is certainly making the most of his chance in the Premier League. The Australian left Celtic in the summer in order to join Tottenham Hotspur. Just like when he had made the move to Parkhead, there were a lot of people unsure about the appointment and many had counted him out even before he had had his first training session.
It is hard to find a doubter now though. After 8 matches, Tottenham Hotspur are first in the Premier League.
Nobody would have expected that when Ange Postecoglou arrived. And with Harry Kane leaving, many had thought Tottenham Hotspur would have a tough time finishing in the top 8. It has been a very different story.
Postecoglou has certainly proven himself at the Premier League level. It looks like he could be set for a reunion with one of his former Celtic players in the not too distant future as well.
Tottenham Hotspur ready to sign former Celtic player
As reported by Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur are set to be one of many clubs ready to sign Jota from Al-Ittihad in January. The situation of the Portuguese winger has caught the attention of Postecoglou, who is a big fan of the player following their time together at Celtic Park.
Jota was one of Postecoglou’s best signings from his time as Celtic manager. The Portuguese winger was brought in on loan from Benfica in the summer of 2021.
Jota had been considered one of the biggest talents in the world while coming through the Benfica youth ranks but had struggled to establish himself in the senior game. Postecoglou managed to unlock his potential and he was so impressive that he was signed by Celtic on a permanent basis next summer.
After two impressive years at Celtic, Jota left for Al-Ittihad in the summer in a £25 million move. But things have not worked out for the Portuguese winger there.
