Celtic put up three more points on the board with a 3-1 win over Kilmarnock at the weekend. Reo Hatate, Luis Palma and Greg Taylor were the three players on the scoresheet for the Hoops on the occasion. The result means that they are now ten points clear of the Rangers and seven clear of second-placed St Mirren. Both do have a game in hand.

The two teams are set to face each other this weekend. That means that Celtic are guaranteed to increase their lead over at least one of them and possibly both depending on the result.

Of course, most Celtic fans would prefer for St Mirren to come out victorious against the Rangers. Now, let’s see how things play out.

Celtic seem to be well in control of the title race right now. On the other hand, the Rangers find themselves in rebuild mode once again, having recently parted ways with Michael Beale, less than a year after he was brought to the club in order to replace Giovanni van Bronckhorst. It remains to be seen who their next manager is.

BBC pundit claims Rangers fans struggle to accept Celtic are bigger

As reported by Football Scotland, Michael Stewart told BBC Sportsound:

"“Ultimately, so many of the Rangers supporters, whether they would admit it or not, they use Celtic as a barometer in Scottish football.“And the thing that is very difficult for them to accept is that Celtic are a bigger club than them at the moment; they have a bigger turnover, they’ve got more money in the bank, it means that they can go and waste some money to be perfectly honest. They don’t need every signing to hit the mark.”"

Celtic have certainly been a much bigger team than the Rangers since the turn of the century. And especially over the past decade or so.

They have won eleven of the last twelve league titles and if nothing unexpected happens, this one looks to be headed to Parkhead as well. During that period of time, the club have clinched five trebles as well.

On the other hand, the only achievements that the Rangers have in recent times are a Premiership title, a Scottish Cup and an appearance in the Europa League final. Not even close to be very honest.
