Another manager departed the Rangers recently, unable to overcome the challenge posed by Celtic during his time in the Ibrox hot seat. Michael Beale was not able to win a single trophy during his 10-month stint in Glasgow. In comparison, the Hoops won the treble in the previous campaign and already have a 7-point lead in the league.

With Beale gone, the Rangers now find themselves searching for their fourth manager in less than two years. It is safe to say that there is very little stability at Ibrox right now.

The club made quite a few additions over the summer and were expected to put up a title challenge this season. But till now, it seems that they have taken steps back and there are question marks over the new arrivals already.

There appear to be quite a few candidates for the vacant Ibrox hot seat. And it looks like a high-profile name is interested in taking it.

Former Chelsea manager wants Rangers job despite Celtic lead

As reported by BBC, Frank Lampard is interested in replacing Beale at Ibrox. He would be open to talks with Rangers.

Lampard has had an interesting managerial career till now. He showed a lot of promise at Derby County and did a superb job in his first season at Chelsea, considering they had a transfer ban at that point in time and had seen Eden Hazard leave. Guiding Everton to safety has to be a highlight as well.

But then, there have been quite a few lows as well. He has been shown the exit door by both Chelsea and Everton. And his second run at Stamford Bridge, as a caretaker manager, only produced one win in eleven games.

Thus, appointing Lampard would be very similar to the Rangers’ past appointment of Steven Gerrard. A high-profile addition who might lift the mood but may not pose a challenge.
