Celtic fans were left somewhat disappointed by how the club’s summer transfer window turned out. They did bring in nine players to Parkhead but the general feeling was that enough experience was not signed, as the Hoops instead focused on making ‘project’ signings. On the other hand, key players like Jota and Carl Starfelt had left, while Aaron Mooy had retired at the end of the previous campaign.

All things considered, many believed that the Celtic squad was now weaker than the one from last season. And till now, that has looked like an accurate assessment, although that has not stopped them from building a 7-point lead over the Rangers in the league.

Things have not gone well for Jota since leaving Celtic either. He already seems to be completely out of the plans at Al-Ittihad, merely months after joining them in a £25 million deal.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for him. It looks like a reunion with Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur is not outside the realms of possibility.

As reported by 90min, Tottenham Hotspur are among several clubs keeping an eye on the situation of Jota. If he is able to leave for free then they would be interested in pursuing a move. Postecoglou is keen on bringing him to north London.

It remains to be seen how things turn out for Jota at Al-Ittihad. It does not feel like he has much of a future there but at the same time, leaving for free might not be an option.

Of course, if Jota did indeed end up becoming available as a free agent in the near future then Celtic should definitely push for a move. In fact, they have been already linked with the Portuguese winger regarding a January loan deal.
