Celtic drop possible hint about Cameron Carter-Vickers return

Cameron Carter-Vickers is widely recognised as the best centre-back that Celtic have in their ranks at this point in time. But he has played very little football lately. The American international underwent surgery towards the end of last season and only returned earlier in the ongoing campaign. But soon he found himself back on the sidelines with another injury.

Celtic were expected to struggle at the back without Carter-Vickers. And while they certainly miss his presence, they have done a better job than most expected.

A lot of that credit goes to Liam Scales. Not too long ago, he was expected to be on his way out of the club. Now, he might be a regular starter following a series of impressive showings.

On the other hand, Carter-Vickers seems to be closing in on his return as well. Whether he will play against Lazio in midweek remains to be seen. But interestingly, he has been included in a number of pictures posted on the club’s official website of their training session before the Champions League game at Parkhead.

If Carter-Vickers was available to take on Lazio then that would have to be considered as a major boost for Celtic. Of course, one would not expect him to start straight off the bat after spending significant time out on the sidelines.

But even having him available as an option on the bench would go a long way in helping Brendan Rodgers’ side. The American is certainly a great player to have around.

There might be a situation where they need to protect a lead late on and in that situation, someone like Carter-Vickers would be perfect to bring on. Of course, the Hoops can surprise everyone by starting the American. It is also possible that he might not be available.
